White Council

A Wardhound is a magically animated statue used for detection and protection. It first appears in Summer Knight.

Description[]

Wardhounds are made from a dark grey-green stone. They have the appearance of Chinese Temple Dogs, and are very tall. They are not intelligent, but react to previously defined stimuli and patterns. Their purpose is to detect any number of threats.[1]

In the series[]

Summer Knight[]

In Summer Knight, Donald Morgan brings a pair with him to the White Council meeting in Chicago. He has them "sniff" Harry Dresden, and it "growled", prompting Morgan to have Dresden remove his bandage.[1]

Turn Coat[]

In Turn Coat, there are two Temple Dog-shaped Wardhounds standing guard with Warden "Lucky" outside Aleron LaFortier's chambers when Harry Dresden went looks for Joseph Listens-to-Wind to get assistance with Donald Morgan's case.[2]
