Large thickly muscled humanoids with large hands and feet, they are also strong and surprisingly fast considering their size.
Their personality ranges from jovial to malicious, and is always violent. Among the Summer Fae, ogres act as muscle and enforcers; few are considered intelligent or self-reliant enough to work alone or without direction.
They are resistant to magical fire but not to natural fire, and like all Fey they are vulnerable to cold iron.
Snow ogres are as big shaggy things with white fur and long claws. Harry Dresden informs Thomas Raith they were some kind of ogre and calls them to himself "snow ogres". It is unclear whether anyone else calls them that.
In the seriesEdit
In Summer Knight, Harry encountered an ogre named Grum at Ronald Reuel's apartment. After his encounter, Harry ponders on Grum and his differences to the average ogre: old, strong, smart, constrained, and quick. He was probably a trusted personal guard.
In Proven Guilty, snow ogres chased Harry Dresden and his rescue team out of Arctis Tor as they made their escape back through the rift after saving Molly Carpenter. Harry and Thomas Raith wage battle with them while the others get through the rift. Fix, the Summer Knight, aids their escape.
- The first appearance of the word ogre is in Histoires ou Contes du Temps Passé. It later appeared in several other fairy tales of the same author.(reference needed)
