Inez is the "famous ghost of Graceland" Cemetery and a statue. She first appears in Grave Peril.

Description[]

If I am no ghost, why do you look so haunted?— Inez[1]

For two centuries, Graceland has sported a statue of a small girl known as Inez. Occasionally the statue is said to be missing, and visitors report sightings of a six year old girl,[2] wearing a very frilly nineteenth century dress that, holding a small lacy parasol and wearing handmade shoes with buckles.[1] Eternal Silence, another Graceland spirit calls her an "insufferable entity".[1]

Inez's grave is near the grave that Bianca St. Claire got for Harry Dresden.[2] The statue looks like Lewis Carroll's original Alice, in a prim and proper Victorian dress looking rather cherubic.[2]

In the series[]

Grave Peril[]

In Grave Peril, Bianca St. Claire got a grave for Harry Dresden by her statue.[3]

Dead Beat[]

In Dead Beat, when Harry Dresden goes to meet Mavra at his grave about some blackmail, Dresden walks past the little girl's grave and finds the statue missing.[2]

Ghost Story[]

In Ghost Story, the ghost of Inez stood by Harry Dresden's grave when he awoke in it at dusk. Inez predicted that he would become a monster. He answered that he wouldn't because monsters hurt things. Inez asked if he "Died doing the right thing" as his gravestone says, Dresden answering he had made bad choices to save a little girl. Inez suggests that he's already a monster, prompting him to imagine she's not really a little girl.[1]

Battle Ground[]

In Battle Ground, Harry Dresden mentions that her statue goes occasionally missing. A little girl in Victorian dress is often seen wandering around the cemetery, while the statue does so, disappearing when the statue returns to its proper place.[4]
