Vlad II, also known as Vlad Dracul or Vlad the Dragon, was, before becoming a Black Court vampire, Voivode of 15th century Wallachia and is best known for being Vlad III Dracula's father. He is first mentioned in Grave Peril.
Description[]
Unlike others of his kind, Drakul is not a rotting corpse. He is a very tall, handsome, pale man with dark hair, angular features, and eyes like black holes.[1]

Blood Rites[]

In Blood Rites, Ebenezar McCoy refers to him as half mortal. Harry Dresden confuses him for his son, Vlad the Impaler, but McCoy asserts that Dracula was a pale comparison, and only became a Black Court vampire as a form of teenage rebellion against his father, Vlad Drakul. McCoy states Drakul himself is formidable, dangerous, and cruel, often referring to him as a "creature". He also states that Jared Kincaid was the servant of Drakul, known in that capacity as the Hound of Hell, or simply, the Hellhound.[2]
White Night[]

In White Night, Harry Dresden mentions him as being a signatory, as a Freeholding Lord, of the Unseelie Accords.[3]
Battle Ground[]

In Battle Ground, Harry Dresden fights off his attempt to raise a zombie army in a major Chicago graveyard as part of the Fomor's attack on the city. In the fight, he reveals both himself to be a starborn, and his knowledge of Harry Dresden being the same. He doesn't care about Ethniu, only about the "stars and stones." He can perform magic through sheer force of will, stronger than those of the Lords of Outer Night, in a manner similar to that of a sorcerer.[1]
